Well Woman Checks
Sometimes it is helpful to have a thorough gynaecological assessment to provide peace of mind if you are worried about any of the following:
- becoming pregnant
- having a miscarriage
- fertility
- infections such as Chlamydia or thrush
- your periods
- embarrassing problems such as discharge
- sexual problems
- family history of gynaecological problems, including cancers
- menopause concerns
- contraception concerns
The consultation will involve:
- Discussion on family history and general gynaecological well-being
- Pelvic and speculum examination with cervical smear, HPV testing and/or full infection screening as required
- Full gynaecological ultrasound scan to check for problems in the womb or ovaries
- Hormone blood tests to check for fertility or menopause
- Other investigations as appropriate
- Pre-conception/contraception/hormone replacement advice and treatment
