Well Woman Checks

Sometimes it is helpful to have a thorough gynaecological assessment to provide peace of mind if you are worried about any of the following:

  • becoming pregnant
  • having a miscarriage
  • fertility
  • infections such as Chlamydia or thrush
  • your periods
  • embarrassing problems such as discharge
  • sexual problems
  • family history of gynaecological problems, including cancers
  • menopause concerns
  • contraception concerns

The consultation will involve:

  • Discussion on family history and general gynaecological well-being
  • Pelvic and speculum examination with cervical smear, HPV testing and/or full infection screening as required
  • Full gynaecological ultrasound scan to check for problems in the womb or ovaries
  • Hormone blood tests to check for fertility or menopause
  • Other investigations as appropriate
  • Pre-conception/contraception/hormone replacement advice and treatment
